Buying Bins and Baskets is not the Solution to your Messy Space

While organizing products, such as bins and baskets, can be helpful, they are not essential for getting organized.
Bins often become a way to temporarily hide clutter instead of dealing with its root cause. If you don’t take the time to sort through and declutter your belongings, you may simply be transferring the mess into containers, creating an illusion of organization.
This can lead to an “out of sight, out of mind” approach. When items are stored away without thought or purpose, it becomes harder to access what you need, and you might forget about what you own altogether. This can result in unnecessary duplicates or a lack of intentionality about what you keep.

Also, bins themselves require space, and if you’re not careful, they can create additional clutter. Overloading a small area with bins can make a room feel cramped and unorganized, defeating the purpose of trying to clean up.
The most important step in getting your space organized is to declutter.
True organization comes from having a clear system and intentional habits. Instead of immediately buying bins, start by sorting through your belongings, categorizing items, and determining what you truly need or use.
Once you’ve decluttered, you’ll have a better understanding of how much storage is actually required, and during this process, you will often discover that you have existing storage solutions that can be used to "contain" your things.
A messy space isn’t just about the stuff—it’s about how you interact with it. Bins can support a tidy home, but they aren’t the ultimate solution. Thoughtful decluttering and mindful habits are the real keys to creating an organized and functional space, so go get started!
